PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 


DAY 1, TRANSFER TO BUCHAREST:

- meet your local guide at `Henri Coanda` International Airport from Bucharest;

- transfer to hotel in downtown Bucharest;

- before arrival to the hotel, local guide will make a brief introduction into general facts about Romania and about the tour (currency, timezone, schedule for the coming days etc);

- check-in at 4* hotel in Bucharest assisted by local guide;

DAY 2, BUCHAREST CITY TOUR AND THE PRAHOVA VALLEY:

- breakfast followed by meeting with the local guide in the lobby of the hotel;

- departure from hotel in Bucharest for the city tour during which you will have the opportunity to see important sights such as: Arch of Triumph, Charles de Gaulle Square, Free Press Square, Victory Square, Victory Avenue, Revolution Square (stop over for photos and local guide explanations), Cismigiu Garden, Opera House, Cotroceni Palace, Military Academy, Elefterie Churches, Dambovita River, The Palace of the Parlament (stop over for photos and local guide explanations), Union Boulevard, Patriarchal Church (stop over for photos and local guide explanations), Union Square, University Square, Roman Square;

- scheduled visits to The Palace of the Parliament, the second largest building in the world and the Village Museum from Herastrau Park;

- in the afternoon, drive through Carpathian Mountains towards Brasov (Kronstadt); the road to Brasov is the main access route to Transylvania and holds some of the most important touristic attractions in the country;

- accommodation at 4* hotel in Brasov;

DAY 3, BRASOV, PELES CASTLE AND BRAN CASTLE:

- breakfast at the hotel followed by pedestrian tour of old town with visit at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church and First Romanian School; the tour continues with the famous Black Church, built by Saxons during the XIV century;

- after the city tour, the day continues with drive to Sinaia for a visit of the summer residence of Carol I (first King of Romania) – the Peles Castle;

- short visit with local guide explanations at Sinaia monastery (XVII century);

- one hour drive from Sinaia to one of the highlights of Romanian tourism - the well known Dracula's Bran Castle;

- visit of the castle which used to be also the medieval borderline between Transylvania and Wallachia, followed by free time for souvenir shopping;

- return to the hotel in Brasov;

DAY 4, PREJMER FORTIFIED CHURCH AND SIGHISOARA:

- breakfast at the hotel;

- short drive to Prejmer where you visit the fortified church of the village – part of UNESCO World Heritage since 1993;

- from Prejmer the trip continues to the heart of Transylvania where you will discover the medieval town of Sighisoara, another UNESCO World Heritage site;

- check-in at 3* hotel in Sighisoara, followed by a pedestrian tour of the citadel including on the tour: The Catholic Cathedral, the History Museum from the famous Clock Tower (visit inside), the Church of the Monastery, House of Vlad Dracul (supposedly the house where Vlad the Impaler was born), the Square of the Fortress, the School's Staircase and the Church on the Hill;

- return at the hotel and free time in the evening;

DAY 5, BIERTAN LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SIBIU:

- after breakfast, drive to Biertan fortified church – UNESCO World Heritage XV century monument - considered to be one of the most important Lutheran churches in Transylvania; for more than 300 years it stood as the head church of the Lutherans from Transylvania;

- the trip continues to Sibiu, another Saxon medieval town, named Hermannstadt by the locals;

- in 2007, Sibiu was given the title of European Capital of Culture; on this occasion, the entire historical centre of the city was restored;

- check-in at 4* hotel in the center of the town;

 - the pedestrian tour of Sibiu will give you the chance to see all the major sights of the city: the Orthodox Cathedral, Brukenthal Museum (visit inside), the Evangelical Church (visit inside), the XIII century Council Tower, Liars Bridge, The Big and The Lesser Square;

 - return to the hotel;

DAY 6, ASTRA VILLAGE MUSEUM AND SIBIEL VILLAGE SURPRISE:

- breakfast at the hotel followed by a visit at Astra Village Museum just outside Sibiu;

- at noon, free time in the center of Sibiu;

- in the afternoon, drive to Sibiel village for a visit at the Glass Icon Museum – the biggest one in the world of its kind;

- after the visit a well deserved traditional Romanian farewell dinner at Reghina's farm house from Sibiel;

- return to hotel;

DAY 7 WALACHIAN MONASTERIES AND TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT:

 - morning departure after breakfast with the final destination `Henri Coanda` International Airport from Bucharest;

 - on the way you will have the chance to admire the beautiful valley of Olt river and to visit Cozia Monastery where the Walachian prince Mircea the Old was buried in 1418;

 - the day continues with a visit at Curtea de Arges Monastery – the masterpiece of Orthodox architecture, bearer of one of the most famous legends in medieval Romania (The Legend of Manole), and also the place where all the Kings of Romania are buried;

 - arrival at `Henri Coanda` International Airport from Bucharest; END OF SERVICES.
